Tungsten (wolfram) has the symbol W in the periodic table and atomic number 74. 

Tungsten is the strongest material in the world with a tensile strength of 600,000 pounds per square inch. 
It is also one of the heaviest metals on the planet with a density twice as rigid as steel and seven times more dense than stone!  Tungsten also has the highest melting and boiling points of any element on the planet. 

Not surprisingly then, it also has an excellent resistance to corrosion, radiation, and surface damage.

Tungsten is a metal that provides a lasting satin-brushed finish.  And, as per our policy, we will refinish your ring free of charge if it ever needs it.  Your tungsten ring will be a constant source of satisfaction, with its pleasing tactile feel and unrivaled quality and weight.

However, since all metal will scratch, we provide a red, calibrated garnet jeweler's cloth with each ring.  With just a few light strokes, your ring will look like new.

We DO NOT use Tungsten Carbide, which is known for chipping and shattering. Tungsten carbide is a cermet, which is a ceramic metal. Most Tungsten Carbide is only 40% Wolfram (tungsten element) and our tungsten (heavy alloy 18) is 94% plus Wolfram with a binder of stainless. This is weapons grade tungsten, the same material used in tipping tank killing rounds. It is considered a kinetic penetrator.

All of our tungsten rings are crafted from a solid, certified bar of tungsten heavy alloy 18 (THA 18).

We offer solid tungsten band rings, as well as tungsten rings with 14k gold and fine silver inlays as well as grooved tungsten rings and tungsten rings that are specially treated in a unique black diamond coating.

We purchase our gold from the largest supplier in the world, and our inlays are guaranteed to be pulled from SOLID wire, not puffed or hollow gold like other ring makers are using.  All of our gold inlays are filled completely and guaranteed to be flush and flawless within the titanium.

At Custom Ring Designs, we also offer 5 different types of 14k gold: 14k yellow, 14k rose, 14k green, 14k white, or 14k ultra white palladium gold.  On most rings, you choose what color gold you would like for your inlays.  This added option continues to keep our customer as close as possible to the creation process.

Of course, we also offer the finest pure silver on the market, again using only solid wire.  We offer two types of silver: .999 fine silver and Argentium Sterling Silver - a new silver that WILL NOT TARNISH, ever!  It's a perfect addition to the Custom Ring Design family.
